About the Project

Acheron is the result of four months in development. The first two months for the Capstone project in the Game Design and Development specialization by the Michigan State University on Coursera. The later two months were used for the refinement of mechanics and redesign of several of the game's content based on feedback from the capstone prototype. The end result is a proof of concept of an action platformer inspired Metroid and it's classic gating mechanics, set in a world already taken by the oceans.

What sets Acheron apart is that its initial argument was to design a game almost entirely based on the water mechanics that are usually frowned upon in classic platformers. So the main objective of the project was to have the water mechanics a core element of the game, making them an engaging part of the experience, rather than a restrictive element.
